The only national program of its kind
When Cincinnati Children’s and Toyota created Buckle Up for Life, we knew that together we shared a wealth of knowledge about vehicle safety technologies and disparities related to child passenger safety. We wanted to change the outcome by creating a program dedicated to educating and empowering parents, grandparents, and caretakers to protect our tiniest citizens through passenger and car seat safety.
Growing and learning
As we evolved, we learned the important role that churches and community leaders could play in helping us deliver the most effective message. When we moved the program from the hospital into local churches and community organizations, it was a game-changer. The cumulative effect of the program resonated within the most at-risk communities. Just as importantly, community leaders became advocates of Buckle Up for Life, and as a trusted source for their communities, helped expand the program.
Connecting with communities
Our program is designed to empower community leaders and members to make child and adult passenger safety a priority in their own communities, thereby reducing motor vehicle injuries and deaths. Buckle Up for Life relies on these strong partnerships with community agencies throughout the country. Their leadership and support continue to play a crucial role in the success of our work.
